LAHORE, Nov 10 (INP): Prime Minister Imran Khan said that PTI’s Federal Government is going to launch an unprecedented mega package to curb the poverty from the society soon.
Addressing a ceremony after laying the foundation stone of a shelter home in Lahore, Prime Minister said that shelter home will provide three time free food to poor people.
PM Imran said, “There was a concept of monarchy in Punjab and ministers were used to luxuries.”
“I decided to appoint Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar after seeing which area he came from. His area and house did not have electricity and there was no hospital there. These kinds of people realise what difficulties are. When a person is facing difficulties he needs humanity,” the prime minister said.

Speaking about a picture of a homeless family in Lahore which recently went viral on social media, PM Imran said, “If people do not feel compassionate after seeing this picture I do not consider them human.” “It was Allama Iqbal’s and Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s dream to make Pakistan a model Islamic state.” The premier continued, “We have spent the last two months saving the country from default, and we the country has been saved. We now have to concentrate on making Pakistan a welfare state and this is the first step.” “I spoke to the Punjab chief minister and decided to allocate five spots for the homeless to make shelters. These spots are in areas where people arrive from outside the city to seek employment,” he added. Congratulating the Punjab chief minister on the project, PM Imran said, “This reminds me of the time when I used to lead the cricket team and used to select players who went on to become Wasim Akram and Inzamamul Haq. This will be just like that.”Responding to a question the premier said, “We stand by the Supreme Court’s verdict and there will be no compromise on it.” If Supreme Court’s decisions are not upheld then the state cannot work, he added. The premier then said that he will speak about corruption allegations tomorrow. “You will really enjoy this,” he vowed. Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday laid the foundation stone for a shelter home in the provincial capital of Lahore. A number of homeless people usually spend nights on footpaths or other places without roof over their heads in different areas of Lahore city. These people also require the basic needs of life including availability of facilities like washing clothes and staying safe at night, besides accessibility to the first aid. The project would address certain issues like restoration of self-respect of the shelter less people, meeting their requirements at these abodes, reducing the risks besides, expanding periphery of the social responsibilities of the state and citizens. The building would be based upon state of the art design with simplicity to improve its utility, besides availability of separate facilities to ensure best usage of the place. It will also include construction of multi-purpose halls for imparting training and holding of public awareness programmes on vital social objectives. According to sources, PM will meet Governor of Punjab, Chief Minister and members of the cabinet during his visit. The government has plans to open 5 more shelter homes in the major cities of the country. Moreover, PM Imran Khan will chair a High-level meeting in Lahore where he’ll view the progress of the provincial government. In the meeting, Prime Minister will discuss the plan for compensation of those who got affected in TLP’s countrywide protest.
