ISLAMABAD, Oct 18 (INP) The accountability court on Wednesday adjourned the sixth hearing of three graft cases against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar till October 23 after the minister's senior council left the country in a rush earlier the same day. The accountability court had indicted Dar last month in a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference pertaining to his owning assets "beyond his known sources of income”. The NAB witnesses Abdul Rehman Gondal and Masood Ul Ghani were also present in the court. As the hearing went underway, Advocate Momina, a junior member of Dar's legal team, moved the court to adjourn the hearing till October 25 as Haris would be out of town until then. The court, however, adjourned the hearing till Oct 23 after discovering that Haris will return to Pakistan on Sunday night (Oct 22). During the proceedings, the court also called Dar to the rostrum and asked him why his lawyer had failed to appear in court, upon which the finance minister said that his lawyer had no intention of leaving the country till last night, but had to leave "due to an emergency". NAB prosecutor commented that Khawaja Haris is not committed with the case. Advocate Momina replied that it is not any game, he had to leave urgently and told that Khawaja Haris will return next Wednesday. NAB prosecutor asked the court to arrest the accused, and said his counsel will then come back. The judge asked Ishaq Dar about appointment of a new lawyer. The finance minister replied that he trusts Khawaja Haris and will not change him. On the other hand, the security during the hearings of high-profile cases of Ishaq Dar and Sharif family has become a problem for district administration. The deputy commissioner of the federal capital earlier wrote a letter to judge Muhammad Bashir, who is hearing Dar’s case, to take necessary safety measures. Muhammad Bashir remarked that the court should be told what kind of security is required during the hearings. He also inquired whether to allow all lawyers to enter the NAB court as per directions of high court or not. It is worth mentioning here that the NAB Special Prosecutor Imran Shafiq and Khawaja Haris exchanged harsh words with each other during the previous hearing. INP/AH
