HK's residents show complete backing to China 'one country two systems’

August 28, 2019

Hong Kong, Aug. 28: (Gwardr Pro) More than 500 Hong Kong taxis hung the national flag of China paraded on main streets of the city to call for anti-violence, rule of law and restore social order.

According to the reports, the movement was organized y Safeguard Hong Kong Alliance under the guidance of Hong Kong lawyer Kennedy Wong Ying-ho. "Anti-government forces organized the 'Hong Kong-independence human chain,' we organized 'Love China, love Hong Kong taxi chain,'" Wong said.

As chaotic situation escalates, Hong Kong’s international image has suffered drastic damage and scared many visitors away, which directly inflicted taxi drivers. Therefore, they have strong wishes for peace and order.

The Hong Kong drivers were backed by another campaign "I want to eat" launched outside the government complex by a consortium of industrial sectors including tourism, catering and transportation, etc., calling for the government to stop violence, restore order and rebuild the economy as soon as possible.

They also sent a letter to Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, claiming the social unrest of nearly three months has led to unemployment, "we, as ordinary Hong Kong residents, still firmly believe in 'one country, two systems,' but excessive freedom has become the hotbed for secessionism."

“Secessionists fight against the government with offensive weapons. If we continue to tolerate it, Hongkongers will have no way to make a living,” the letter said.

The normal people are pessimistic about the endless and evolving violence in Hong Kong as the rioters keep challenging the rule of law and provoking police without limits, and they hope the central government can solve the problems.

When asked whether the Hong Kong government would use the Emergency Regulations Ordinance to curb protests, Chief Executive Carrie Lam responded earlier on Tuesday saying, "All of Hong Kong’s laws, if they can provide a rule of law measure to stop violence and chaos, the government has the responsibility to examine them."

Meanwhile, she emphasized that the current situation is still under control, as the HKSAR government is supporting the law enforcement bodies and acting responsibly.
