NEW YORK, Oct 17 (INP): Pakistan's outgoing Permanent Representative to UN Dr. Maleeha Lodhi has warned that India's hegemonic and aggressive actions posing grave threat to regional peace and security.
Speaking in the UN General Assembly's First Committee on dealing disarmament and international security issues, Maleeha Lodhi has said that India’s conduct pose threat to Pakistan.
“ India’s belligerent military posture was demonstrated in February this year in the wake of the Pulwama incident in occupied Kashmir, it resorted to aggression against Pakistan on a completely false pretense,” she stated.
The UN representative strongly condemned India’s abrogation of Article 370.
“The recent unilateral action by India to further consolidate its illegal occupation of the internationally-recognized disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in flagrant violation of multiple Security Council resolutions, has further engendered the volatility in South Asia,” she said.
Tensions between India and Pakistan intensified, after India in a unilateral move abrogated Article 370 granting special status to occupied Kashmir. This was followed by imposition of unprecedented curfew and lockdown in the valley.
