Inner Mongolia lifts 141,000 out of poverty in 2019

HOHHOT, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- A total of 141,000 people in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region shook off poverty last year, the regional government said Friday.
The poverty-stricken population has been reduced to just 16,000 from 2013's 1.57 million, with the poverty headcount ratio dropping from 11.7 percent to 0.11 percent, according to official statistics.

Dilapidated houses of 8,073 households were renovated, and safe drinking water was secured for 46,817 rural residents in the region. About 124,900 people have been relocated to new homes.
The regional and local governments invested anti-poverty funds of about 9.9 billion yuan (around 1.43 billion U.S. dollars) in 2019 and introduced over 8,000 industrial projects to enrich 1.15 million poor people. ■
