January 13, 2020

TEHRAN, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Monday issued an order to implement a law blacklisting the U.S. Department of Defense as "terrorist organization," Tasnim news agency reported.

In a statement, Rouhani called on relevant Iranian organizations to implement the law which was passed by Iran's parliament.

According to Iran's parliament vote on Jan. 7, "all members of the Pentagon, the affiliated institutions and companies, and the U.S. commanders who planned and perpetrated assassination" of Qassem Soleimani, former commander of the Quds Force of Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), were blacklisted.

The law has been endorsed by the Guardian Council of Constitution.

In April 2019, Iran's Supreme National Security Council also announced U.S. Central Command forces in West Asia as "terrorist group" in retaliation for U.S. designation of the IRGC as "a foreign terrorist organization."  ■
