ISLAMABAD, Nov 11(INP): Former Minister Ishaq Dar has rejected the Supreme Court's order of paying penalty on him in a case pertaining to the appointment of Attaul Haq Qasmi as MD of PTV. In a statement, Ishaq Dar contended that the Ministry of Finance has no role in this appointment. He took the plea that Prime Minister has approved the appointment of Attaul Haq Qasmi as MD PTV on the recommendations of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The Finance Ministry had accepted Qasmi’s perks and privileges on the basis of a summary received from the Establishment Division. Ishaq Dar said that the salary of Rs. 1.5 million per month was determined keeping in view the professional standing and experience of Qasmi. For the extra expenditure, the PTV administration could be held accountable, he added. He said that he had informed the Court about his position to this regard on July 15. He announced that he would not pay any amount or penalty in the case, as was fixed by the court.
