LAHORE, June 20 (INP): Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday ordered the anti-graft body to decide immediately the matter of awarding the contract of consultancy of the Mohmand Dam illegally and on expensive rates while concluding the petition against the contract.
The LHC divisional bench in the chair of Justice Baqar Najafi heard the petition against awarding the contract of the Mohmad Dam illegally and on expensive rates.
The petitioner counsel Rana Abdul Hameed told the court that the consultancy contract of the Mohamad dam awarded to the subsidiary company of WAPDA, NESPAK on an amount of Rs 9.8 billion after canceling it on Rs 5.5 billion.
The petitioner argued that the retired engineers of the WAPDA worked in the NESPAK which did not have experience of constructing the dams while the national exchequer incurred a loss of Rs 3.5 billion by awarding the contract violating the procedures.
The counsel also insisted the court to order the NAB to take action against the irregularities in awarding the contract to the NESPAK.
The Court after hearing all the arguments decided the case ordering the NAB to look into the matter and decide it immediately.
