Nawaz warns of conspiracies to rig 2018 elections; Threatens to disclose behind the scene conspiracies

ISLAMABAD, Jan 3 (INP) Former Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has spoken of behind the scene conspiracies being hatched to rig the 2018 elections and bring a Ladla in the government. Addressing a crowded press conference at Punjab House in the presence of senior PML-N leaders here Wednesday, Nawaz Sharif said the destiny of the nation is linked with free, fair and transparent elections. He said every political party should have equal opportunities to contest the elections. Nawaz Sharif said telephone calls and secret contacts should come to an end and ground is not paved for the victory of the “Ladla”. The former Prime Minister gave a clear warning that if behind the scene activities, secret telephones and contacts to rig the elections are not stopped, he would disclose every thing that had happened in the last four years and how the elections would be manoeuvred in the future. He said he would give proof in Islamabad about how the verdict of the people would be rejected through conspiracies. He said his patriotism was doubted and his advice for the betterment of the country was given the name of Dawnleaks and others. He proposed the need for self soul searching as to why the world is having a negative thinking about Pakistan. He said the blood of our army, police, civil and security officials, people and children has become cheap who have been targeted by the terrorists. He said as the 2018 elections are approaching, the surveys indicate a clear majority of voters supporting the PML-N and stressed that the sanctity of the vote be respected. He said those rejected by the people in the past should not be imposed on them through cooked elections. He pointed out that the country suffered in the past by rejecting the mandate of the people and referred to the dismemberment of Pakistan. He said no elected prime minister from Shaheed Liaquat Ali Khan till today has been allowed to complete his tenure. The former Prime Minister said if we have to remain a respectable nation, we should pass through the exercise of self accountability. Nawaz Sharif described President’s Trump’s tweet on new year as non serious and regretable. He said the Coalition Support Fund is not assistance to Pakistan. He said Pakistan would not have joined the IS coalition in Afghanistan had there been an elected government in 2001. He said Pakistan launched Zarb-e-Azb which broke the backbone of terrorism in Pakistan and the remnants would be eliminated soon. Nawaz Sharif asked Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to devise a strategy which ends the country’s reliance on US aid. Nawaz Sharif did not take questions and left the place after reading the written statement.
