KUNMING, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Police in southwest China's Yunnan Province have captured two drug trafficking suspects and seized 106.84 kg of drugs, local authorities said Wednesday.
Police in Va Autonomous County of Ximeng received a tip-off in December 2019 that drug dealers were planning to smuggle a batch of drugs into China for sale.
On Dec. 27, 2019, two suspects were caught in the China-Myanmar border areas with 79.32 kg of opium and 27.52 kg of methamphetamine seized at the scene.
The two suspects have since been detained. Further investigation into the case is underway.
Yunnan is a major front in China's battle against drug crimes, as it borders the Golden Triangle known for its rampant drug production and trafficking.
