ISLAMABAD, Jan 07 (INP): Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) imparted education about traffic rules to 3,04,191 citizens through its road safety programs and campaigns in the city from time to time during the year 2018.

Various education teams of ITP visited educational institutions and delivered lectures to students while government and private organizations were also visited to create awareness among the officials about road safety.

More than 1000 awareness activities s were arranged in the city while classes were arranged at ITP headquarters for road safety tips to driving learners and violators coming there to clear their fine tickets.

People were educated about safe road environment while pamphlets about road safety were distributed among thousands of citizens and students. Likewise, thousands of motorbikes were repaired free of cost and they were sensitized about use of helmets and traffic rules during these campaigns. Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed has appealed the citizens to follow traffic rules, take care of other rights on roads, avoid over-speeding, rash driving, red signal violation, use of mobile phone during drive.

The SSP said that only way to maintain traffic discipline and overcome road accidents is to create awareness about traffic laws. He urged all the citizens to help traffic police in maintaining safe road environment in Capital and make Islamabad `an accident free city'.

Farrukh Rasheed said that ITP is endeavoring best to ensure safe road environment in the city and involving community in its affairs to achieve the desired targets of disciplined traffic and equal implementation of law with zero tolerance against violation of rules.

He appealed the citizens to cooperate with traffic police and follow traffic rules in true letter and spirit.
