ISLAMABAD, Dec 09 (INP): Saniha Ghafoor, Pakistan’s female powerlifter, has won four gold medals in the 57 kg category in a powerlifting championship in Singapore. The powerlifter participated in the Oceania Pacific Powerlifting Championship on Saturday. Ghafoor won four medals in four categories. She succeeded in the 57-kg category for squats, bench press, dead lift and total weight. According to APP, the powerlifter representing Pakistan in Singapore lifted a collective weight of 280 kg, 115kg during squats, 55 kg during bench press and 110 kg during dead lifts. Held at Park Avenue Convention Centre in Singapore, the even t that started on December 7 will end on Sunday. Other Pakistani powerlifters competing in the event include Sybil Sohail (47kg), Twinkle Sohail (72kg), Rabbia Razzaq (84kg), Muhammad Ahmad Khan (105kg), Syed Nadeem Hashmi (105kg) and Mahmood Heera (120kg). Pakistan’s Twinkle Sohail won a gold medal in 2015 at the Asian Bench-Press Powerlifting Championship the event which was held in Muscat. Her success also became a topic of discussion on social media as Pakistanis took to congratulating the young powerlifter for bagging four gold medals. INP/OBD/AK
