ISLAMABAD, May 31 (INP): Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) Khursheed Shah on Thursday criticized Balochistan Assembly for approving resolution seeking one-month extension in general elections 2018 from July to August. In a statement, Khursheed Shah said that he won’t call this step as a conspiracy from the province but, the polls should not be delayed at any cost, he added. [timed-content-server show="06/01/2018 01:00 Asia/Karachi"]Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shehbaz Sharif has termed the resolution as bad omen for the political situation of Pakistan. Talking to Press Club members, he said the future of the country is linked with the fair and transparent elections. Delaying polls will cost nothing, he added. Earlier, Balochistan Assembly had passed a resolution seeking one-month delay in elections in the country. Provincial Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti tabled the resolution and cited two reasons for the delay in elections. He stated that several people will be performing Hajj rituals while people from several districts would migrate owing to monsoon season. Pakhtunkhwa Milly Awami Party and Awami National Party (ANP) opposed the resolution and staged a walk out from the assembly after the passage of resolution. It is pertinent to mention here that the date of the general elections has been decided as July 25. Polls for both National Assembly (NA) and provincial assemblies will be held simultaneously on the same date. Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has also allotted electoral symbols to as many as 77 parties. INP/LK[/timed-content-server]
