Power restored in some parts of Karachi after major breakdown: KE

KARACHI, Nov 12 (INP): Supply of power was restored in certain areas of the metropolis after a major breakdown Monday morning as a transmission line of the national grid tripped.

"Partial supply from national grid has resumed and restoration of power supply to affected areas is progressing swiftly. Supply to parts of Korangi, Garden, Jacob Line, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulshan, Defence, Gizri and Landhi has started," K Electric said.

Large parts of Karachi were rendered without electricity as the "500 kV transmission line connecting KE to the national grid tripped".

Schoolchildren and those headed to work faced difficulties owing to the outage. Last month, Karachi was hit by five major power breakdowns in the span of 25 days. The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) had taken notice of the power outages in the metropolis.
