PTI candidate Shehzad Waseem elected as senator

LAHORE, Oct03 (INP): The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) candidate Shehzad Waseem elected as Senator defeating his rival candidate of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) on Wednesday. The seat was vacated by PTI s Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar on assuming charge of Governor Punjab. PTI candidate Shehzad Waseem secured 181 votes while runner-up PML-N candidate Khawaja Ahmed Hassan, who was also supported by PPP, got 169 votes. 351 members of the Punjab Assembly exercised their right to vote whereas one vote was rejected. Punjab Assembly was declared polling station while provincial election commissioner is the presiding officer.
