Reference for Yousufi to be held next week at AIOU

ISLAMABAD, June 25: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will hold a condolence reference here next week at its main campus to pay homage to renowned writer late Mushtaq Ahmed Yousufi. Yousufi, who died last week was the most widely read Urdu humour and comic writer in the second half of the twentieth century. He was awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz in 1999 and the Hilal-i-Imtiaz in 2002 — the highest literary honour given by the government to civilians. The reference is a part of series, initiated by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui to keep remembers those national figures who achieved a great name in the respective profession and become a source of inspiration for the young generation. The event, being arranged by the University’s department of Urdu will be presided over the Vice Chancellor. Eminent literary personalities including Ataul Haq Qasmi, Iftikar Arif, Prof. Fateha Muhammad Malik and Dr. Tahir Masood are expected to attend the reference. INP/AJ
