TLP rally against blasphemous caricatures enroute to Islamabad reaches Jhelum

LAHORE, Aug 30 (INP): A rally organised by Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) against the blasphemous caricatures contest by anti-Islam Dutch parliamentarian Greet Wilders on Thursday reached Jhelum en route to the federal capital. The rally which is being led by Peer Muhammad Afzal Qadri and Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi started from Lahore a day earlier. Protesters spent the night in Gujrat and set off for Islamabad in the morning. As the protesters reached Serai Alamgir they were not allowed to move forward and containers had been placed to block routes. However, later on the containers were removed and protesters marched ahead towards the federal capital. The party has demanding that the government expel the Netherlands' ambassador to Pakistan from the country as well as calls back Pakistan's ambassador to Netherlands in protest against the competition. Earlier, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noorul Haq Qadri held a meeting with Rizvi. Qadri said the dignity of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was above everything. The minister said everyone reserved the right to protest and that his government would provide full security to the TLP rally. He further said the government was assured that the rally would remain peaceful. Qadri urged the TLP to provide workable suggestions, promising that the recommendations would be acted upon.
