January 30, 2019

SRINAGAR, Jan 30 (INP): In occupied Kashmir, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has condemned the unjustified and brutal police action against the people of Reshipora village in Awantipora area of Pulwama district.

According to Kashmir Media Service, a JI spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that the innocent youth of Reshipora village were ruthlessly beaten inside the police post after being called there by a police officer.

He said that the youth were told that a 12th class student, Hafiz Aamir Butt, who was arrested during the intervening night of 28th and 29th January, would be released and they were asked to come to the police post and take him.

“On entering the police chowki premises, these youth were handed over to the personnel of Indian Central Reserve Police Force deployed there. These troops on the clear directions of a police officer ruthlessly beat up the youth. Some youth including Mudassir Ahmed Butt, Ali Muhammad Butt and Sajjad Ahmed Dar have sustained grievous injuries,” he added.

The spokesman demanded stern action against the erring police officer and urged human rights organisations to take serious note of the police brutalities in Pulwama.
