A total of 68 students have been enrolled at the Precision System Training Centre (PSTC), established by the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) in Gwadar, of whom 50 have already completed their studies.
According to official documents available with Wealth Pakistan, the centre was developed under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) to develop a skilled workforce for Gwadar’s industrial and economic growth, particularly under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The PSTC offers a three-year Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in Precision Mechanics and Instrument Technology, along with six-month short courses in graphic design, machinist training, and general electrician skills. The short courses have so far produced 50 graduates, supplying the local market with a much-needed technical workforce.
In addition, 18 students are currently enrolled in the three-year DAE in Precision Mechanics and Instrument Technology programme. The documents further reveal that all 68 students come from less-developed areas of Balochistan. To facilitate youth from remote regions, the centre also provides hostel accommodation with a capacity for up to 80 students.
Looking ahead, PSTC Gwadar has announced plans to establish a Marine Innovation Lab, which will focus on building CNC precision and composite boats, as well as developing sustainable fiberglass boats through CNC technology. This initiative is expected to give a major boost to Gwadar’s marine economy and fishing industry by integrating modern technology with traditional livelihoods.
A senior official from the centre told Wealth Pakistan that the facility plays a crucial role in equipping local youth with employable skills that match the demands of Gwadar’s emerging industries. He said the project will not only bridge regional skill gaps but also strengthen Pakistan’s human capital base to support long-term economic growth.
