The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has allocated Rs200 million to expedite the pending land payments for landowners in Islamabad's Sector C-15, according to a document available with Wealth Pakistan. Despite substantial progress in previous disbursements, delays continue to persist in some sectors due to ongoing legal challenges and procedural verification requirements.
In Sector C-15, the CDA has earmarked the Rs200 million for the current fiscal year to ensure that the payments will be processed swiftly as landowners submit the required applications. However, delays persist in other areas of the city, including Sectors H-16 and I-17, where outdated satellite imagery and verification challenges have hindered the finalization of payments.
The CDA continues to prioritize landowner compensation, particularly in sectors where payments have been delayed. In Sector H-16, over Rs2.6 billion remains withheld, despite 61% of the allocated Rs4,135 million having been paid. Similarly, in Sector I-17, 85% of the Rs5,154 million has been disbursed, but Rs945 million is still pending, awaiting further legal clearances. The CDA’s efforts to address these delays highlight the authority’s commitment to resolving longstanding land compensation issues with greater fairness and transparency.
However, the process remains slowed by multiple legal proceedings, as landowners continue to file writ petitions and intra-court appeals related to the compensation process. The CDA is working under the guidance of the Islamabad High Court, ensuring that payments are made in compliance with all legal directives, while striving to resolve remaining disputes in a timely manner.
