October 29, 2025

An Air India bus caught fire at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi today, raising concerns about safety protocols at the busy aviation hub. While no injuries or casualties were reported, the incident highlights potential lapses in safety measures. The bus, used for ferrying passengers within the airport premises, was empty except for the driver at the time of the fire.

The blaze was promptly brought under control by fire officials, though the vehicle sustained damage. Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) Vichitra Veer, in a statement, confirmed that the bus was not carrying any passengers or luggage at the time of the incident, and only the driver was present when the fire broke out.

Following the incident, fire tenders, local police, and personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) rushed to the spot and responded to the scene, the official said. A detailed examination of the bus is being carried out to ascertain the cause of the fire, he added. However, experts suggest the need for a review of safety procedures and vehicle maintenance at the airport.
