The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) have urged people to observe a complete shutdown tomorrow on the martyrdom anniversary of prominent liberation leader Muhammad Maqbool Butt in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). According to Kashmir Media Service, Kashmiris will observe the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of the renowned Kashmiri leader tomorrow.

Muhammad Maqbool Butt was hanged by Indian authorities in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on February 11, 1984, and his body was buried within the jail premises. APHC leaders, while paying rich tributes to Muhammad Maqbool Butt, maintained that martyrs are the real assets of the Kashmiri freedom struggle against Indian occupation and its illegal rule.

They said the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and that their mission would be accomplished at all costs. Reiterating Kashmiris’ determination, APHC leaders stated that the martyrs are the true heroes of Kashmir and a great asset of the ongoing freedom movement. They added that the execution of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru amounted to the murder of justice.

Meanwhile, posters also were pasted on walls across Srinagar and other areas by APHC and other Hurriy;at organizations, stating that Kashmiris were engaged in a just struggle to secure their right to self-determination. The posters were also circulated on social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and WhatsApp groups.
