Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti has said that censorship and curbs on democratic freedoms is taking place in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.  Accoding to Kashmir Media Service, in a post on X, Mehbooba said democracy thrives on the free exchange of ideas and warned that banning books cannot erase history but only fuels division.  She further said suppressing democratic voices and fundamental rights in Kashmir deepens alienation and mistrust among the people. “Censorship doesn’t silence ideas, it amplifies their resonance,” she added.
