In the Indian capital, New Delhi, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor started threatening an African citizen for not learning Hindi.  In a video circulating on social media, BJP councilor Renu Chaudhary can be seen speaking in a bitter tone to a group of people in a park in Delhi and asking an African citizen why he did not learn Hindi while living in India.   

She warns him that if he does not learn Hindi within a month, action will be taken against him. In the video, the councillor can also be heard saying, "If you are earning from India, you should be able to speak Hindi."   Renu Chaudhary gives the African citizen a month's time and threatens that if he does not learn Hindi, the authorities will not allow him to come to the park.

She also says that the park should be closed after 8:00pm and in case of any kind of criminal activity, these people will be responsible.   After the video went viral, social media users strongly criticized the councillor's behaviour. One user wrote that she should have told Messi too that if he does not know Hindi, don't come to India..   Another user wrote that why do these people want to impose Hindi everywhere.
