Continued illegal detention of Hurriayt leaders unjustified: APHCBreaking

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has condemned the continued illegal detentions of Hurriyat leaders and activists and other Kashmiri political detainees languishing in jails of India and occupied Jammu and Kashmir since long time.  According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minahas in a statement in Srinagar has appealed to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, to play his role in the early release of the Kashmiri leaders and other thousands of prisoners who are facing illegal detentions since long time adding that their detention is unjustified and political vendetta. 

He said that the Indian government through its investigating agencies was victimizing the Hurriyat leaders for opposing India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and demanding right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people and seeking resolution of the Kashmir dispute through dialogue. Muhammad Yasin Malik Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Ayaz Akbar, Pir Saifullah, Merajuddin Kalwal, Shahid-ul-Islam, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Bilal Siddiqi, Molvi Bashir Irfani, Ameer Hamza, Dr Hameed Fayaz, and Mushtaqul Islam are presently lodged in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar and other Jails.  The spokesman, however, maintained that Indian brutalities and atrocities have failed in the past to subdue the resolve of the Kashmiri people and their leadership to pursue their freedom struggle and will meet the same fate in the future as well. 

He urged the UN Human Rights Council and other world bodies including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and International Committee of Red Cross to play their role in the release of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders languishing in different jails of India and IIOJK. He also appealed to the United Nations to take steps for the settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with its relevant resolutions and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
