The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has expressed grave concern over the deployment of 20,000 additional paramilitary personnel of India’s Central Reserve Police Force in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, terming it yet another move to further entrench New Delhi’s illegal occupation of the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, DFP Spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal in a statement issued in Srinagar said the decision to send more troops to the already heavily-militarized territory exposes the Modi regime’s desperation to strengthen its military grip in the name of so-called normalcy.
The spokesman said, instead of resolving the decades-old Kashmir dispute through peaceful means and addressing the genuine political aspirations of the Kashmiri people, India continues to view the issue purely through a security lens. The spokesman reminded New Delhi that no amount of military might can suppress a legitimate political movement backed by overwhelming public support.
He said the Indian rulers must learn from history that brute force and repressive tactics have failed to subdue the will of the Kashmiri people. Meanwhile, the DFP spokesman strongly condemned the repressive measures of the occupation authorities on the Kashmir Martyrs’ Day. He said such cowardly acts, intended to erase the collective memory and history of the Kashmiri people, will never help India achieve its nefarious objectives in the occupied territory.
