A group of Hindutva activists brutally assaulted an unidentified elderly man in the BJP-ruled Rajasthan state after accusing him of eating beef and branding him a “Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrator”. The shocking incident occurred in Aklera town of Jhalawar district in Rajasthan, and a disturbing video of the assault has gone viral on social media.
In the video, the elderly man is seen lying helplessly on the ground, surrounded by 8–10 young men who repeatedly kick him on the head and body, hitting him with sticks, and slapping him. The attackers are heard hurling abuses, accusing him of consuming beef and questioning his nationality. Throughout the attack, the man is seen pleading weakly, unable to defend himself.
The incident has triggered outrage, with many condemning the rising tide of mod violence in Modi’s India. Anita Yadav, vice-president of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), said mob lynchings had become alarmingly frequent, particularly in BJP-ruled states. “Despite knowing the root causes of mob lynchings, neither the Modi government nor state governments are taking strict action. In BJP-ruled states, this has become a common occurrence,” Yadav said.
Yadav also referred to previous lynching cases, including the death of Angel Chakma and a singer who was earlier killed in similar violence, alleging persistent state apathy. “All these beasts are killing a human being like an animal,” she said, adding that the incident in Aklera reflected a complete failure of governance and accountability.
