Hurriyat leaders hailing from various pro-freedom organizations have said that India is relentlessly peddling falsehoods to sell the myth of “normalcy” in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, while the ground reality remains one of military siege, repression and popular resistance. 

According to Kashmir Media Service, Hurriyat leaders in their separate statements said that more than one million Indian troops continue to occupy Kashmiri cities, towns and villages, brutally suppressing the people and denying them their basic political and human rights.

They said the massive military presence itself exposes the hollowness of New Delhi’s claims of peace and stability.  The leaders said India’s political and military leadership is issuing delusional and misleading statements to mask the worsening situation in the occupied territory, where arbitrary arrests, raids, harassment and rights violations have become routine.

They added that Indian mainstream media is running a coordinated propaganda blitz to project an illusion of normalcy, while deliberately ignoring the suffering of the Kashmiri people.  They maintained that New Delhi is increasingly relying on lies, distortion and obfuscation to divert international attention from grave human rights abuses being committed daily in IIOJK.

The leaders said the fascist Modi regime can stoop to any level to malign Pakistan and delegitimize Kashmiris’ legitimate and indigenous resistance movement.  Rejecting India’s narrative, the Hurriyat leaders asserted that Kashmir’s freedom struggle is homegrown and rooted in the will and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people, and cannot be branded as Pakistan-sponsored to deceive the world.

They said India’s repeated attempts to link the movement with external factors reflect its political failure and moral bankruptcy.  The leaders stressed that Modi’s machinations to defame Pakistan and undermine the Kashmiri struggle are doomed to fail, as the truth of India’s occupation and repression is becoming increasingly evident globally.

They reaffirmed that Pakistanis and Kashmiris stand united and resolute in thwarting India’s nefarious designs and will continue their struggle until the realization of their internationally recognized right to self-determination.
