Israeli strikes continue, Hezbollah terms ceasefire extension meaninglessBreaking

April 25, 2026

Hezbollah has termed the extension of the ceasefire with Israel, brokered by the United States, as meaningless.According to media reports, the statement comes at a time when two people were killed in an Israeli strike, while Hezbollah also claimed to have shot down an Israeli drone. US President Donald Trump had announced a three-week extension of the ceasefire on Thursday after hosting Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors at the White House.

The ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel was due to expire on Sunday. Responding to the extension, Hezbollah lawmaker Ali Fayyad said that in light of ongoing Israeli actions, including killings and shelling, the ceasefire holds little significance. He further stated that each Israeli attack gives the resistance the right to respond proportionately. Hezbollah is not a party to the ceasefire agreement and has strongly objected to direct Lebanon-Israel engagements.
