Kashmiris choked under Indian repression, say Hurriyat leaders Breaking

July 17, 2025

Hurriyat leaders and organizations have urged the United Nations to fulfill its moral and legal responsibility by intervening to stop Indian atrocities and help resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the leaders in their statements issued in Srinagar said that the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir are living under an atmosphere of fear, repression and collective punishment enforced by more than one million Indian troops deployed across the territory.

They said, the Modi regime has turned IIOJK into a massive military prison where all basic human rights have been trampled with impunity over the past six years. They said India’s fascist government has broken all previous records of human rights violations, using brute force and repressive tactics to suppress the legitimate demand of Kashmiris for freedom.

They said ordinary Kashmiris are subjected to daily humiliation through frequent cordon and search operations, arbitrary house raids and mass arrests. Innocent civilians, including youth, are being detained under draconian laws like the Public Safety Act and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.  The Hurriyat leaders warned that the unrelenting repression unleashed by Narendra Modi and his associates in IIOJK will inevitably backfire.

They said the Kashmiri people, despite all odds, remain determined to continue their peaceful resistance against Indian occupation.  They appealed to the international community, particularly the United Nations, to come forward in a big way to resolve the Kashmir dispute and rescue the Kashmiri people from vicious cycle of human rights violations in the territory.
