In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of prominent political and social figure Al-Haj Ghulam Muhammad Baig, popularly known as Mam Beigh, of Nowhatta, Srinagar. According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar stated that he had personally visited the late Beigh a few weeks ago to inquire about his health.
He said that Mam Beigh shared a close association with Shaheed-e-Millat Mirwaiz Maulvi Mohammad Farooq and always stood by his side in the movement for justice and dignity. “That same love, respect, and loyalty remained intact in his relationship with me as well,” Mirwaiz added. He described the deceased as a principled and respected voice of downtown Srinagar who remained steadfast in his beliefs throughout his life.
“His death is a personal loss for me and a significant void for Kashmiri society,” Mirwaiz stated. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq led the funeral prayers of the deceased, which were attended by a large number of people from across the area. He prayed for the departed soul’s forgiveness and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
