Noted Kashmiri Pandit intellectual Bhushan Bazaz passes awayBreaking

Noted social and political thinker and founder of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF), Pandit Bhushan Bazaz, passed away after a prolonged illness. He was 91. According to Kashmir Media  Service, Pandit Bhushan Bazaz was the son of renowned Kashmiri writer and historian Pandit Prem Nath Bazaz.

Like his illustrious father, he was widely regarded as a consistent and principled Kashmiri Pandit voice advocating brotherhood, Kashmiriyat and peaceful coexistence among the territory’s diverse communities. Bazaz enjoyed respect among pro-freedom political and social circles and was known for his unwavering commitment to peace, reconciliation and dialogue on Jammu and Kashmir.

Throughout his life, he remained dedicated to fostering harmony, mutual respect and understanding, and to upholding democratic values. As founder of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Front, Bazaz articulated a political vision rooted in democratic engagement and inclusive outreach.  He is survived by his wife and son. His demise has been widely mourned and is being described as a significant loss to the social and intellectual life of Kashmir.
