In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has stressed that a genuine resolution of the Palestine issue must go beyond a ceasefire and ensure an end to occupation of Gaza and decades of suffering of Palestinians. According to Kashmir Media Service, in a post on X, Mirwaiz said the 20-point peace plan announced by US President Donald Trump to end the ongoing war in Gaza was a welcome step as it aimed at halting the bloodshed and what he described as the “genocide of Palestinians.”

“The people of Palestine need a fair resolution that guarantees justice, dignity, and freedom,” Mirwaiz said, expressing hope that the plan would serve as a beginning towards sustainable peace grounded in international law and human rights. The Kashmiri leader reiterated solidarity with the people of Palestine, underlining that their struggle for dignity and freedom resonates with oppressed peoples across the world.
