Turkish FM hopes for breakthrough in Iran-US negotiationsBreaking

April 25, 2026

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed optimism about the upcoming round of Iran-US talks, which are likely to be held in Pakistan. Speaking to the media, Fidan said Turkiye is encouraging the negotiations and expects major obstacles to be resolved soon. He added that one or two critical issues in the nuclear discussions are close to resolution. While the recent extension of a ceasefire is a positive step, it is not sufficient for a final agreement.

Fidan also highlighted that the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is linked to the negotiations. A successful agreement could restore maritime traffic in the strategic waterway. He further noted that international cooperation could be established for mine clearance and stressed that Turkiye would maintain a neutral stance in any new military developments, while remaining in contact with all parties involved.
