January 22, 2026

China-Pakistan people-to-people ties were further strengthened as Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS) selected 26 students for Chinese scholarships under an academic exchange programme, reinforcing education as a key pillar of bilateral cooperation.

The scholarships cover multiple disciplines and are part of broader educational collaboration aimed at human capital development and cultural exchange between the two countries, the university said, according to a Gwadar Pro's report on Thursday.

A formal scholarship distribution ceremony was scheduled to be held Thursday at the university’s Syndicate Room, with Vice Chancellor Dr. Shazia Basher attending as Chief Guest.

Analysts note that educational exchanges complement China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC)’s economic focus by building long-term institutional linkages and skills development, ensuring sustainability of Pakistan-China cooperation beyond infrastructure and trade.

The initiative reflects China’s continued investment in Pakistan’s youth and academic institutions, supporting knowledge-sharing and future leadership development.
