December 31, 2025

The Pak-China Technical and Vocational Institute (PCT&VI) at the University of Gwadar said that 435 applicants had qualified for admission to its diploma and short-course programmes, with women accounting for 191 of the successful candidates. Candidates qualified for three-year diploma programmes in e-commerce, maritime and port management, mechatronics, software technology and tourism management, Gwadar Pro reported quoting the institute.

A total of 217 candidates qualified for one-year programmes, including 127 for an advanced English diploma and 60 for a diploma in artificial intelligence and data science, while 92 qualified for six-month technical courses. Female participation was highest in the advanced English diploma (80 women) and the six-month crane-operator and car-driving course (32 women), the institute said.

PCT&VI is part of Pakistan-China cooperation linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, according to the CPEC secretariat’s official website, which lists the institute among Gwadar projects. The institute said it offers scholarships, fee waivers and merit-based support to encourage enrolment, particularly from low-income families. Separately, PCT&VI approved additional skill-based programmes this year, including boat making, boat engine repair, solar electrical work and mobile phone repairing, Gwadar Pro reported in October.
