December 09, 2025

A 12-member delegation from Balochistan left for China to explore investment opportunities. They will travel to Guangdong, China’s southern coastal province, till Dec 13 to boost friendship and people-to-people exchanges between the two regions, officials said, according to Gwadar Pro.

The delegation includes representatives from Pakistan Customs, Gwadar Port Authority, Gwadar Development Authority, district police, civil courts, district administration, education authorities, Gwadar Municipal Committee, Gwadar Press Club, the local chamber of commerce, the fisheries department, Quetta Electricity Supply Company, New Gwadar International Airport and Pak-China Friendship Hospital.

The group will visit Zhuhai, which became Gwadar’s sister city in 2015 to promote cooperation in trade, culture and tourism. Officials told Gwadar Pro that Zhuhai, a special economic zone in Guangdong province, offers insights into urban development and coastal economic growth. The delegation will also travel to Shenzhen. Officials drew comparisons between Shenzhen’s transformation into a technology hub and Gwadar’s long-term economic ambitions.

“Shenzhen is now an economic powerhouse. Gwadar is positioned to follow a similar path,” one official told Gwadar Pro. During the trip, the delegation will meet government and business leaders and visit institutions involved in technology, urban planning, transport, sustainability and energy. The visit aims to attract Chinese investment and strengthen collaboration to support Gwadar’s development as a regional commercial and innovation centre.
