China-Pakistan agricultural cooperation deepens following the investment mootBreaking

January 21, 2026

China-Pakistan agricultural cooperation under the evolving framework of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) entered a new phase as Pakistani and Chinese companies signed 79 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth approximately $4.5 billion during the Pakistan–China Agri-Investment Conference, underscoring Beijing’s expanding role in Pakistan’s agri-food transformation.

Following the event, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain said the conference was designed to catalyse long-term investment partnerships, accelerate technology transfer, and promote value addition across Pakistan’s agriculture and food sectors, in line with the Prime Minister’s reform agenda and China’s proven agricultural development model.

According to a Gwadar Pro's report, the minister said the forum facilitated direct business-to-business engagement between 116 Chinese and 165 Pakistani companies, creating targeted investment pathways in priority sub-sectors including seeds, livestock, farm mechanisation, food processing, cold-chain logistics, and agri-exports.

He described the conference as a continuation of similar investment-focused engagements held last year, reflecting the growing convergence between Pakistan’s agricultural reform strategy and Chinese expertise.

Highlighting institutional strengthening measures, Rana Tanveer Hussain announced the establishment of a special implementation wing within the ministry to ensure the swift execution of the signed MoUs.

He added that an agriculture wing would also be set up at Pakistan’s Embassy in China to deepen coordination, facilitate Chinese investors, and promote bilateral agri-business ventures.
