October 27, 2025

Chinese enterprise BA NIU NIU (Food) Private Ltd has established a state-of-the-art cooked beef processing and export facility at the Rashakai Special Economic Zone (RSEZ), a flagship project of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) announced the development on Saturday, terming it a significant milestone in the province’s industrialization drive and a step toward expanding Pakistan’s agri-food export potential to China, according to Gwadar Pro.

“We are pleased to announce the arrival of a new Chinese enterprise at the Rashakai SEZ,” said a KPEZDMC in a statement. “BA NIU NIU’s investment marks a new phase of economic cooperation under CPEC, focusing on high-value food processing and export.” According to the statement, the company will focus on processing and exporting cooked beef to China, a venture expected to enhance Pakistan’s export base and introduce international food processing standards in the local industry.

The total initial investment for the project stands at PKR 192 million, reflecting investor confidence in the economic potential of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The company has already imported the necessary machinery, marking a key stage in the setup process. Initially, the project will create 50 direct jobs, with an additional 150 to 200 indirect employment opportunities anticipated once the facility becomes fully operational.

Officials noted that the project aligns with the broader goals of Rashakai SEZ, which is jointly developed by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, KPEZDMC, and the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC). Spanning approximately 1,000 acres, the zone is strategically located at the confluence of five major districts of KP and is well-connected by road, motorway, and railway networks. Once fully developed, RSEZ is expected to generate around 200,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, serving as a key industrial hub under the CPEC industrial cooperation framework.
