Chinese-Pakistani community rallies to support flood victims in PunjabBreaking

September 03, 2025

A disaster relief donation ceremony organized by Huashanghui, a Chinese business community in Pakistan, was held at Geo Pak International Hospital to demonstrate solidarity with flood-affected people across Punjab.

The event, titled “Standing Together Through Storms, China-Pakistan Hearts United”, brought together approximately 100 representatives including Cao Ke, Acting Consul General of China in Lahore and former Pakistan Army Brigadier Aftab, accounting to a report carried by Gwadar Pro.

Pakistan has been grappling with unusually heavy monsoon rains this season, which climate scientists have linked to changing weather patterns. Punjab, the country’s agricultural heartland, had reported 209 deaths as of Sunday - the second-highest death toll of any province.

The floods have displaced more than 750,000 people in Punjab and destroyed vast swathes of rice, corn and vegetable crops just weeks before harvest, posing a serious threat to food security and livelihoods across the region. Wang Yanfei, Chinese director of Geo Pak International Hospital, has been leading free medical services for disaster victims, providing medical care and accommodation to more than 500 displaced individuals.

“Our hospital remains committed to serving those affected by this calamity,” Wang stated. Huashanghui in Pakistan, under the leadership of President Chen Qianjiang, mobilized 27 Chinese enterprises to donate essential supplies, including sponge mattresses, ready-to-eat meals and nursing gloves.

Total contributions have exceeded 3.22 million PKR, reaching over 5,000 affected individuals. “The Chinese business community stands with our Pakistani brothers and sisters during this challenging time,” Chen said. “Our support reflects the iron-clad friendship between our two nations.”
