The Women Development Department of the Government of Balochistan has completed a dedicated women’s market in Gwadar New Town, aiming to create employment opportunities for local women. The Gwadar Development Authority (GDA) described the project as a step toward improving economic and social conditions in the coastal city.
It said the initiative is part of broader efforts to support women’s participation in business through targeted programs, Gwadar Pro reported. The new market provides a formal platform for women to start and expand small businesses, allowing them to turn skills into income and access more stable livelihoods.
Officials say women’s participation in Gwadar’s business sector has been increasing in recent years, a trend seen as contributing to economic activity and social development. They added that greater inclusion of women in the economy will be important for Gwadar’s long-term development as it continues to grow into a regional economic hub.
