Gwadar Free Zone Electricity Management Regulation launchedBreaking

January 20, 2026

The Electricity Management Regulation of Gwadar Free Zone was rolled out, in response to the rising electricity demand from a growing number of enterprises settling in the Zone. The Regulation covers the entire process of electricity usage, making metering, accounting and payment more scientific and transparent, Gwadar Pro reported on Tuesday.

The Regulation clarifies clear-cut provisions on electricity access, power QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety and Environment) management, payment management, ledger and records management, among other key areas, according to a statement released by China Overseas Ports Holding Company (Pvt.) Ltd. (COPHC).

“Over the past two years, with the joint efforts of China and Pakistan, the Zone has been fully connected to the national grid, ensuring a stable power supply and reasonable electricity prices, which has laid a solid foundation for the economic functioning of the Zone,” COPHC revealed. On August 15, 2024, the Gwadar Free Zone (North) achieved a milestone by being connected to Pakistan’s national grid for the first time and securing a 10 MW power supply.

“We will keep optimizing the business environment and facilitating the construction and operation of enterprises to promote high-quality development of the Zone,” COPHC noted.
