Pakistani government officials and media representatives at the 9th CPEC Media Forum held here. pointed out that India is the primary source of disinformation targeting Pakistan and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to a Gwadar Pro's report, Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan's Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, underscored that the arrival of the digital age has transformed the way information is disseminated, and disinformation and narrative warfare have become global challenges.

“During the war with India, we saw a lot of misinformation coming in. They've banned our YouTube channels,” he mentioned.

“When I heard some of our naive friends talk about CPEC in a negative connotation, I can only say that they don't know the entire truth. It is our job to make the world aware of what CPEC stands for,” he stated.

As Senator Mushahid Hussain, Chairman of Pakistan-China Institute sees it, disinformation is one of the biggest challenges for Pakistan. “Pakistan is facing disinformation from India.

The EU Disinfo Lab exposed about 250 Indian fake news sites in 65 countries,” he noted.

“India is the main source of fake news and disinformation against CPEC because India is not ready to accept that this project will connect China with our Gwadar Port,” Hamid Mir, Senior Journalist at Geo News said.
