SCO represents a path forward - one built on peace, mutual growth, and shared interests. This was stated by a Pakistani journalist while sharing his enthusiasm for Chinese Technology at the SCO Summit, according to a report posted at Gwadar Pro's website. At the ongoing Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, observers and journalists from around the world are hard at work - and many of them are relying on Chinese technology to ensure smooth coverage. Among them is Irfan Ashraf, a journalist from Karachi.
As he prepared for a live broadcast and program recording, I noticed something peculiar - his collar was clipped with not just one but several DJI microphones. When he caught me observing him, he smiled warmly and struck up a conversation. “I have a question for you,” he said, pointing to the DJI equipment in my hand. “Where in China did you buy that one? Which generation is it - and what’s the price range?” His curiosity quickly turned into an enthusiastic review of his experience with Chinese gear.
“Trust me,” he said, “if I shared my personal experience, you’d understand why I’m so impressed with Chinese brands. I use this DJI mic for everything - interviews, VLOGs, on-the-go reports. Every time I travel or do field work, it’s like a reliable friend I can count on. The audio quality is fantastic, and the signal never lets me down.” Then, almost as if switching into storytelling mode, Irfan Ashraf leaned in and added: “Let me share another story with you.
And I hope you’ll pass it on - to the Chinese people, and to the people making these incredible products.” He recalled how, for more than a decade, he had been driving an imported car - one made outside of China. One day, while passing a car showroom in Pakistan, he noticed a crowd gathering around a Haval vehicle - a Chinese-brand SUV. “I was just curious at first,” he said. “I asked the dealer if I could take it for a test drive. And that’s where the magic started.” “I sat inside and waited for the engine to start.
But I heard nothing - no vibration, no hum, not even a whisper. I actually turned to the manager and asked him to start the engine. He laughed and said it was already running.” Irfan Ashraf fan was stunned. “It was so quiet, I felt like I was sitting in a living room. That peaceful. That refined.” After just one test drive, he made his decision - and bought the car on the spot. “Believe me, it’s an amazing vehicle. It’s a hybrid, so it doesn’t pollute. There’s no smoke, no noise.
And with the rising cost of fuel, this car has saved me a lot of money. The interior is beautiful. I’m speaking only from personal experience - but this was a smart choice.” Irfan Ashraf’s story isn’t unique. In 2022, China’s Great Wall Motors (GWM) announced the launch of its KD (knock-down) factory in Lahore, Pakistan. That same day, the first locally assembled third-generation Haval H6 rolled off the production line.
The establishment of the KD plant did more than just lower the cost of high-quality Chinese cars - it created jobs and expanded opportunities for Pakistani workers and technicians. Today, several Chinese auto brands are following suit, setting up assembly operations across Pakistan. But for Irfan Ashraf, the real value lies in the technology behind it all. “These vehicles are still built to Chinese standards, using Chinese engineering.
That’s what gives us confidence,” he said. “I hope more Chinese automakers open factories and franchises in Pakistan. When I was in Beijing and Tianjin, I saw so many sleek, modern cars. We need more of those in cities like Islamabad and Karachi. People would love them.” As our conversation wrapped up, Irfan reflected on the summit itself: “The SCO is more than a summit - it’s a platform for economic cooperation, development, and regional security,” he said.
“And I’m hopeful that after this summit, we’ll see more countries joining. Because SCO represents a path forward - one built on peace, mutual growth, and shared interests.” “For me, what matters most is this region’s future - our economic future, our security, and our peace.”
