November 25, 2025

The Balochistan Government has appointed Naqeebullah Kakar as the new Deputy Commissioner of Gwadar. He formally took charge on Monday at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where senior officials welcomed him and expressed confidence in his ability to further enhance governance and public service delivery in the district, Gwadar Pro reported on Tuesday. A reception was held in his honor alongside a farewell ceremony for outgoing Deputy Commissioner Hamood-ur-Rehman.

The event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Boheer Dashti, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Dr. Abdul Shakoor, Assistant Commissioners, Tehsildars, and other district officers and staff. Officials congratulated DC Kakar on assuming the role and highlighted expectations regarding improved administrative performance and continuity in ongoing development initiatives. Outgoing DC Hamood-ur-Rehman was commended for his contributions to district administration and community welfare.

During his tenure, he oversaw several key initiatives, including the establishment of the Zahoor Shah Hashmi Digital Library, a prominent community-driven project aimed at enhancing digital access and educational opportunities for youth in Gwadar. While last week in office, Hamood-ur-Rehman also introduced the Shaheed Zakir Baloch Scholarship Program, aimed at supporting deserving students from Gwadar pursuing higher education. In its first phase, around 30–32 orphaned and disabled students from low-income families were selected on merit. The initiative, the first of its kind launched from Gwadar, is expected to expand across Balochistan in the future.
