MoU signed for power supply to Dhabeji Economic ZoneBreaking

Engro Energy Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Invigo Energy Pvt. Ltd, the project implementor for Dhabeji Economic Zone – DEZ) for the provision of renewable energy based power solutions. According to Gwadar Proon Wednesday, Engro Energy Limited will serve as an energy partner of DEZ and ensure reliable, cost-effective, and green power to the industrial zone, as per the agreement.

According to the agreement, the power demand will be served through Engro’s Renewable Energy Park via a dedicated transmission line. The partnership will serve the national cause by helping industries on the road towards net zero. The Government of Sindh has proposed setting up an industrial zone (to be declared Special Economic Zone -SEZ) at Dhabeji in Thatta, Sindh. The Zone comprises fifteen hundred and thirty (1,530) acres of land.

The Dhabeji SEZ was approved by the 6th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) under the industrial cooperation phase of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The Dhabeji SEZ at Thatta, 50 km from Karachi, is via the eastern alignment of CPEC (N-5) and M-9. The project site for the Dhabeji Industrial Zone is situated close to Bin Qasim port but can also be served by Karachi port. Dhabeji Industrial Zone has been proposed to be constructed in 2 phases comprising 750 acres for Phase I and 780 acres for Phase II.
