October 31, 2025

The National Logistics Corporation (NLC) has expanded its shipping operations with the launch of the Pakistan–Gulf–China Vessel Service, introducing a new maritime route under the national flag carrier to strengthen trade connectivity between Pakistan, China, and Southeast Asia, the corporation said in a statement, according to Gwadar Pro.

According to NLC, the vessel-carrying cargo from China and Malaysia—arrived at Karachi Port this week, operating on the Port Klang–Qingdao–Ningbo–Jebel Ali–Karachi route. For the first time in Pakistan’s history, a national carrier has deployed a vessel with a capacity of 2,500 TEUs on this route, significantly enhancing operational efficiency and regional logistics.

A ceremony marking the launch was held at Karachi Port, attended by senior officials from NLC, Karachi Port Trust (KPT), Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT), Pakistan Customs, AP Line, and members of the business community. The new service aims to further strengthen regional connectivity and promote trade between Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

It offers regular sailings, guaranteed space availability, and flexible slot payment options for exporters and importers, ensuring reliability and convenience in shipping operations. “As Pakistan’s national flag carrier, NLC’s Pakistan–Gulf–China–Malaysia Service provides a fast and consistent maritime connection, with a transit time of just 18 days between Karachi, Port Klang (Malaysia), and Qingdao (China),” the statement said.

NLC added that the service’s competitive freight rates and assured connections are expected to facilitate and accelerate trade flows across the region, reinforcing Pakistan’s role as a vital link in the emerging regional trade network.
