At the 2025 International Forum on Energy Transition in Suzhou, the National Energy Administration (NEA) of China underscored its continued commitment to deepening energy cooperation with Pakistan as part of a broader effort to promote sustainable and low-carbon development under the Belt and Road framework.

Chinese officials highlighted a series of major joint projects including the Tarbela and Diamer Basha Dams, Port Qasim Coal-Fired Power Plant, Dawood Wind Power Plant, and the Dasu 765kV Transmission Line, among others, describing them as landmark achievements that reflect the two countries’ enduring partnership in the energy sector and shared vision for a greener future.

Talking to Gwadar Pro, NEA officials also underscored that these projects were noted as significant contributions to Pakistan’s growing clean energy capacity and carbon reduction goals under the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.

High-level officials from the Pakistani Consulate General in Shanghai participated in the forum, which opened on October 24 and convened global leaders, policymakers, and experts under the theme “A Decade of Collaboration Drives Energy Transitions for A Green Future”.

Jointly organized by China’s NEA, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), and the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, the forum brought together over 2,000 participants, including energy ministers and ambassadors from 36 countries and regions, representatives of 15 international energy organizations, and executives from leading enterprises, research institutions, and industry associations.
