Pakistani firm bridges digital trade at Shenzhen ExpoBreaking

June 25, 2025

Pakistani digital trade solutions provider emerged as a key connector between markets at the 10th Shenzhen International Cross-Border E-Commerce Trade Expo, as global e-commerce penetration reached 42.4% in 2025 -nearly doubling from 2018 levels. Spanning 40,000 square meters and featuring more than 1,000 exhibitors, the trade event at China’s e-commerce hub showcases China’s advances in digital commerce innovations, from AI-driven product selection to blockchain supply chain solutions, according to a report carried by Gwadar Pro on Wednesday.

This comes as China’s cross-border e-commerce transactions recorded an import-export volume of 2.71 trillion yuan in 2024-a robust 14 percent year-on-year increase. “China’s advanced e-commerce ecosystem offers transformative potential for emerging markets,” said Edward Zhou, General Manager of WBM China.

“Our participation helps position Pakistan as the next strategic partner for Chinese enterprises expanding globally.” The company’s journey in China reflects deepening economic ties - starting with an exploratory visit in 1998, building its first Chinese plant in Guangdong province in 2011 and now operating three entities across production, trading and supply chain management.

WBM demonstrated its two-way trade facilitation model at the expo. It offers Chinese brands comprehensive support for Pakistan market entry including warehousing, localized logistics and digital marketing services. Simultaneously, it promotes premium Pakistani exports like Himalayan pink salt and Basmati rice through China's efficient trade channels to global buyers.

“The expo enabled WBM to advance negotiations with leading Chinese fintech and logistics providers while fielding numerous inquiries about Pakistan’s digital market potential”, noted Edward. These interactions highlight how China’s maturing cross-border infrastructure is creating new international commerce opportunities. Beyond immediate deals, the event has raised Pakistan’s profile in China’s digital commerce community.

“We’re reshaping perceptions of Pakistan as a dynamic digital economy that offers mutual benefits,” Edward explained, underscoring the country’s growing integration with China’s advanced cross-border ecosystems.
