Pakistan’s engineering workforce is set to enter a new phase of international participation following a Memorandum of Understanding signed here between the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and China Energy International Group Company Limited, Pakistan Branch (CEEC).

The agreement, which was signed on Feb. 14, centers on structured overseas placement of PEC-registered engineers in Energy China’s large-scale ventures spanning power generation, renewables, hydropower, transmission networks, transport infrastructure and investment projects across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Energy China’s Managing Director Mr. Wang Huihua described the company’s global reach, noting that its operations extend across 147 countries with a workforce of around 140,000 professionals.

He underscored the organization’s intent to induct Pakistani engineers into its international projects while expanding partnerships with Pakistani contractors and aligning investments with corporate social responsibility objectives.

PEC Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir characterized the agreement as a turning point for the country’s engineering community.

“2026 will be remembered as the year Pakistan’s engineers moved from domestic markets to global engineering leadership,” he said, Gwadar Pro reported on Sunday.
